Hello Students and Families,
Happy Thursday (and long weekend) to everyone! We are officially two weeks into the 2015-2016 school year.
We, here in room 2007, have been busy with beginning of the year activities. These activities are designed to help us reflect on our own thinking, build relationships with our classmates and teachers, share our thoughts and opinions, decide which attitudes and practices will lead and guide our classroom environment, teach others, learn from others, and create a community. Some highlights of the past two weeks include (but are not limited to):
-crossing the Peanut Butter River
-demonstrating our knowledge of place value on Kahoot
-browsing and borrowing at the CMC
-discovering our learning profiles and preferences
-expressing our gratitude
-listening to Fantastic Mr. Fox
-creating norms to guide our classroom behavior ("Persevere" is my personal favorite!)
-teaching the teacher (me) and other new students about ISM
-going to specials (art, music, PE) everyday
-discussing, researching, disagreeing, compromising, and deciding on a class name
It has been a wonderful start to the year and we look forward to making this our best year of school so far. Thank you for responding to requests for information, coming to the orientation meetings, and welcoming me into the ISM community. I will be sharing several files on the class drive this afternoon (phone tree, math unit letter). Please feel free to email me or drop in with questions and/or concerns.
Have a fantastic weekend!
